Selvedge Slim Straight Denim

Our classic 14oz selvedge denim.

Although the denim is sturdy and substantial, a curved waistband gives a clean, neat look around the waist.

[What is selvedge (the finished edge of the fabric)?]

Selvedge denim is denim fabric woven on old-style looms, with a distinctive finished edge on both sides of the fabric.

It is the edge added so the fabric's woven ends do not fray.

It refers to the edge that appears mainly on the outseam of jeans made using the sides of the fabric bolt.

When jeans are made from selvedge denim, turning up the hem typically reveals the edge as shown in the image.

This white-and-red edge, known as "red selvedge," is the signature of selvedge denim.

Zip fly for easy on and off.

Made from soft 14oz raw denim, it's a great first pair for beginners.

The leather patch features a branded Betty Smith logo.

The simple design is part of Betty Smith's appeal.

It's also a detail that ages beautifully over time.

Rolling up the hem adds an accent and shows off the selvedge edge.

About Hemming

We offer free hemming on selected bottoms.

If you would like hemming, please review the measuring instructions and notes below, and enter your desired inseam length in the order notes field.

How to Measure the Inseam

Please prepare a pair of bottoms you own (worn and washed).

*If possible, use a pair of the same type as the ones you plan to purchase.

STEP1

On a flat surface, align the center as shown and refold them so they lie flat.

STEP2

Lift the leg of the top layer and fold it as shown.

*Please do not pull too hard.

STEP3

I: Using a tape measure, measure from the crotch seam along the inseam down to the hem.

II: Start from the crotch seam on the side closer to the hem, aligning it with 0 cm.

III: Measure along the seam to the hem.

*When measuring, always follow the seam carefully.

*Hold the starting point firmly in place so it does not shift while measuring.

*Rulers tend to cause errors, so please always use a tape measure.

Tip

For customers requesting hemming on jeans with used or distressed finishes

For jeans with used or distressed finishing at the hem, if you only need about 2 cm shortened, we recommend leaving them uncut so you can keep enjoying the finish.

Hemmed items cannot be returned or exchanged.

Please check the length, size, and product carefully before ordering.

Please allow a tolerance of ±0.5 cm from your requested finished length.

Depending on the length cut, stitch marks from the original hem may remain.

Any finishing on the original hem will be lost when hemmed.

If you plan to wear the item rolled up, please allow extra length for the roll-up when specifying your hem length.
